Meaning & History
Allana is a feminine given name in English usage, primarily considered a variant of Alana. Alana itself is the feminine form of Alan 1, a name of uncertain but ancient origin. Indeed, Alan is known to have been used in Brittany as early as the 6th century, and may derive from a Brythonic element meaning "little rock" or from the tribal name of the Alans, an Iranian people who migrated into Europe in the 4th and 5th centuries. The name gained prominence through Saint Alan of Quimper, a 6th-century Welsh saint who founded a monastery in Brittany, and through several dukes of Brittany.
