Minta

Minta is a feminine given name that originated as a short form of Araminta. The earliest recorded usage of the name Araminta appears in late 17th century English comedies: it was first used by playwright William Congreve in The Old Bachelor (1693), and later by John Vanbrugh in The Confederacy (1705). Although the exact etymology of Araminta is uncertain, it is thought to be a literary invention, possibly combining elements of other names such as Arabella or Aminta. Since Minta is a shortened version of Araminta, it inherits the same literary and creative origins.
