Kostakis is the diminutive of Konstantinos, the Greek form of the Latin name Constantinus, itself derived from Constans meaning "constant, steadfast." The name ultimately traces back to the Roman emperor Constantine the Great, who was the first Roman emperor to adopt Christianity and renamed Byzantium to Constantinople.
