Etymology
Kheireddine is an alternate transcription of the Arabic name خير الدين (Khayr ad-Din), chiefly used in Algeria. The name is composed of two Arabic elements: khayr meaning "goodness, charity" and dīn meaning "religion, faith", thus signifying "goodness of the faith". Variant forms include Khairuddin and the Maghrebi Khayreddine, while the Turkish form is Hayrettin.
