Gudula of Brabant, also known as Saint Gudula, was born in the pagus of Brabant (in modern Belgium). According to her 11th-century biography, she was the daughter of Duke Witger of Lotharingia and Saint Amalberga. She is venerated in Catholic and Orthodox churches. In 1047, a chapter was founded in her honor in Brussels, and a relic of her skull is conserved in Eibingen, Germany. She is locally known as Goedele (Dutch) or Gudule (French).
