Domantas is a Lithuanian masculine given name with deep roots in Baltic onomastics. Although often associated with Daumantas, its etymology is debated among linguists. The name is considered dithematic, composed of two elements: do- and -mant-. The first element is widely interpreted as do- meaning "to give" (from the verb duoti), while the second element derives from either mantus "intelligent" or manta "property, wealth". Thus, one plausible meaning of Domantas is "one who gives intelligence" or "giver of wealth". The independence of this formation from Daumantas (where the first stem daug- means "much") was argued by the linguist Kazimieras Būga.
