Known for his efforts to modernize Ethiopia and consolidate central authority, Tewodros II was a controversial figure whose conflicts with the British Empire culminated in the 1868 Expedition to Abyssinia and his eventual suicide at Magdala. His reign remains a pivotal chapter in the nation's narrative.
