Kyrillos is the original Greek form of the name Cyril, derived from the Greek element kyrios (kyrios) meaning "lord." In the Greek Bible, kyrios is frequently used as a title for God or Jesus Christ, imbuing the name with strong religious connotations. The name appears in the New Testament (e.g., Acts 19:15), though Kyrillos itself is not biblical; it emerged later as a personal name in the Early Christian period.
